Cape Verde managed to hold Portugal to a goalless draw despite being on Portugal’s home soil and the European team selecting a full-strength starting line-up which included Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Carvalho, Miguel Veloso, Nani and Deco. The game was part of Portugal’s preparations ahead of this summer’s World Cup in South Africa. The hosts dominated the action at the Complexo Desportivo in Covilha but failed to score, with Real Madrid’s Ronaldo making a number of misses. Coach Carlos Queiroz will be hoping they can improve their finishing touches before their forthcoming friendlies against Cameroon on 1st June and Mozambique on 8th June, and certainly before their first World Cup match against Ivory Coast in Port Elizabeth on 15th June.
