Tourism has been established for a number of years in Cape Verde, with Portuguese and Italian tour operators bringing tourists to the islands.

In recent years other European nations have “discovered” Cape Verde (including the UK). Coupled with the aid and investment coming into Cape Verde this has led to a boom in property development, with new hotels and holiday homes being built throughout the archipelago. As such there a numerous construction projects underway at any one time.

Often the building work takes place in previously undeveloped areas, but you can also find construction work taking place in already popular resort areas. On Sal for example, where the terrain is flat and barren, building work is more apparent.

If there is building work taking place either in or next to your chosen hotel, we will advise you at the time of booking if known, or as soon as we find out we will contact you if it affects your holiday.
