What We Think
The Foya Branca is a versatile resort-style hotel, combining an excellent location next to the beach and with some superb facilities.
Situated in beautifully kept gardens with palm trees and flowering bougainvillea and overlooking the sandy beach of São Pedro, the hotel enjoys a peaceful setting with an impressive view. The extensive grounds include two large swimming pools, a children’s pool and play area, plus a gym, tennis courts, pétanque and even a giant chessboard. Fishing, diving and horse-riding can also all be arranged at the hotel during your stay (payable locally).
Guest rooms in the newer block are light and airy with good furnishings throughout and are located over two floors with either a terrace or balcony. We also highly recommend upgrading to a sea view room.
There is a choice of two bars plus a stylish evening restaurant and a lunch time snack bar in which to dine. The hotel’s main restaurant offers buffet style meals with a good choice of local and international cuisine, including the wonderfully fresh ‘catch of the day’ fish option. Although waiter service in general can be slow in Cape Verde, in this particular restaurant it is well worth the wait. If you are planning to head out to sample the nightlife in the town of Mindelo, only a 10-minute drive away, after dinner.
This hotel is the perfect choice for the more adventurous of our customers looking for activities and the opportunity to explore around the island of São Vicente, making full use of the hotel’s frequent courtesy shuttle bus into Mindelo, or taking the short stroll along the beach to the small nearby fi shing village to watch the daily catch being gathered in. Foya Branca is also secluded enough to offer a relaxing retreat by the sea if you wish, and is a favourite hotel with our clients for twin and multi-centre holidays around the islands.
