Coronavirus: latest news

Last updated: 29th May, 12:50

Our ATOL and ABTA bonding means that any package holiday booked with us is fully protected in the event that government restrictions are still in place to Cape Verde at the time of travel.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is currently advising against all but essential travel to anywhere in the world. We are closely monitoring the advice from the FCO and should your booking be affected, rest assured we will contact you to discuss the options available to you. We will prioritise contact with customers who are travelling the soonest.

If you have an existing booking and are travelling on or before 28th June 2020, we will be in contact with you as soon as we can to discuss your options.

We are monitoring the government advice daily and our policies are constantly under review. Rest assured, we will contact our customers should their bookings be affected by any change in our policy.

I have concerns about future travel, what should I do?

If you have already booked a holiday with us, we appreciate you may have some concerns about the future of your trip, which is why we are now offering our customers greater flexibility and some much-needed peace of mind when it comes to future travel.

If you have an existing booking and are travelling between 29th June and 31st July 2020, you can now amend your holiday for free to a later holiday departure date. If you choose a holiday that's more expensive than your original booking, you'll need to pay the difference in price, plus any charges that third parties pass onto us. If you choose a holiday that's cheaper than the one you originally booked, we'll refund the difference. You can make a change up until four weeks before your original departure date.

If you have specific reasons for not wanting to travel and there are no FCO restrictions in place, we recommend you contact your travel insurers and talk to them about cover as our standard terms and conditions will apply for cancellations.

If you are due to travel after 1st August 2020, then our standard terms and conditions apply.

I have been advised by the government to self-isolate

If you have a future booking where we can fulfil all elements of your holiday, our normal cancellation charges apply and we suggest you speak to your travel insurance provider to see if you are covered for self-isolation. If your GP has advised against travel, then again, you should speak to your travel insurance provider. Another option is to delay your holiday to when you can travel. If you are travelling before 30th June, you can amend your holiday for free to a later departure date. If you choose a holiday that's more expensive than your original booking, you'll need to pay the difference in price, plus any charges that third parties pass onto us. If you choose a holiday that's cheaper than the one you originally booked, we'll refund the difference. You can make a change up until four weeks before your original departure date.

Flexible future travel

If you book flights or a holiday before 30th June 2020 for travel before 31st October 2020, you will now be able to change to any flight or holiday that’s currently on sale up until 31st October 2021 without paying an amendment fee. Bookings are fully protected with our ATOL and ABTA bonding.

Please see full details on our Book with confidence - 100% protected page.

If your flight or holiday was curtailed

Following the change in FCO advice by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) restricting all but essential international travel, for the welfare and safety of our customers, arrangements were put in place to repatriate our customers back to the UK as soon as possible.

As your trip was curtailed whilst you were in Cape Verde, due to circumstances completely beyond our control, any claims for refunds of your travel, accommodation and any other elements, should be addressed to your travel insurers. This is the reason why we include the need for travel insurance within our booking terms and conditions.

Should your insurers require any further information in addition to this statement, your original invoice and the cancellation invoice, please email admin@capeverde.co.uk

We are grateful for your understanding in these unprecedented times and we sincerely hope we can welcome you back to Cape Verde in the future.
