Relax on Sal and then onto the diverse island of Santiago, exploring markets, trekking through the mountainous interior. On Fogo visit the active volcano and a lunar landscape, and sample the wine!
This seven-night island hop is a great taster for first-time visitors to the archipelago and includes some wonderful island tours on the islands of Sal, Santiago and Fogo.
Duration: 7 nights
Start and finish point: Sal
Please note - guided tours are included in this holiday.
Once you’ve arrived on Sal, our representative will give you all of your inter-island flight tickets and direct you to your hotel transfer. Then you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the white sandy beaches, superb local restaurants and evening entertainment of Santa Maria.
Half-day tour of Sal, which will include visits to: Murdeira, Palmeira, Buracona, Espargos, Shark bay and the Pedra de Lume salt flats. You’ll have the opportunity to paddle or bathe in the salt lakes so make sure you take waterproof shoes, swimwear and a towel. You’ll return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free in Santa Maria.
Our representative in Santiago will meet you at the airport and direct you to your hotel transfer. You’ll have the rest of the day to explore.
Full-day tour of Santiago. Taking you up into the mountains offering breathtaking views along the way. Your tour includes visits to: Cidade Velha, Mercado Municipal da Praia and continuing inland, passing through Pedra Badejo, São Jorge dos Orgãos and Assomada, the second largest city on the Island. Your final stop is Tarrafal for lunch, plus you may have the opportunity to swim in this beautiful bay.
Our representative will meet you for your panoramic transfer tour of this volcanic island, ending at your hotel in São Filipe. The rest of the day is free to explore - São Filipe is wonderful Portuguese squares, cobbled streets, sobrados and pastel-coloured houses.
Full-day excursion to the volcanic crater at Chã das Caldeiras. Since 1785, all its eruptions have been inside the crater. This crater is such a highlight of Cape Verde and has very fertile land. Coffee is grown on the outside slopes whilst vines used to produce the famous Fogo wine are grown at the crater. The road to the crater is not for the fainthearted, with twisting roads and steep hairpin bends! Lunch in a local restaurant in Chã das Caldeiras.
Fly back to Sal via Santiago. On arrival you’ll be transferred to your hotel for your last night, with the rest of the day free.
Make the most of the sunshine before being transferred to Sal airport for your home flight.
Due to internal flight schedules the itinerary may only work on certain days of the week, if this is the case we can arrange a similar tailor-made itinerary.
Upon your arrival in Sal after your international flight, you will travel between Islands by internal flights. These flights are provided by Cabo Verde Airlines and, whilst every effort will be made to book direct flights, these flights may be indirect due to scheduling limitations.
Please note internal flights can, and do have schedule changes and flights are sometimes cancelled, delayed or even early!
Due to the travelling involved on our island-hopping itineraries we don’t recommend this type of holiday for young children.
