We at The Cape Verde Experience have always been aware of the impact of tourism on the immediate and worldwide environment, which is why we’ve always strived to be a ‘green’ company. We continually endeavor to negate any detrimental impacts our business has on our destinations whilst sustaining long term environmental and social benefits.
We are an active member of AITO, the Association of Independent Tour Operators. They are the first tourism industry association to incorporate into their business charter a commitment to Responsible travel and green tourism. We accept, therefore, that we as a Tour Operator should aim to be responsible in all of our dealings and abide by AITO’s Sustainable travel guidelines:
Protect the environment - its flora, fauna and landscapes Respect local cultures - traditions, religions and heritage Benefit local communities - both economically and socially Conserve natural resources - from office to destination Minimise pollution - through noise, waste disposal and congestion
We are proud to have been awarded AITO’s 5 star Sustainable Tourism status. In order to achieve this star rating, we had to fulfil a number of criteria covering the areas of ST policies, implementation of sustainable office practice, communication with customers, environmental practice and practical destination activity.
Highly Commended for its Sustainable Tourism Practice
