The Peaks of Cape Verde

Travelling to five of the 10 islands within Cape Verde, this 14-night itinerary allows you to experience some wonderful sights. Make the most of your time on each island by adding some excursions!

Day 1 – Sal

Once you’ve arrived on Sal, you’ll be met by our representative direct you to the transfer to your hotel..

Day 2 – Fly to Santiago

Today you’ll travel to Santiago, our representative will have your inter-island flight tickets and will direct you to your onward flight. On arrival, you’ll be met by our Santiago representative who’ll provide you with the information for your stay on the island and direct you to the transfer to your hotel.

Day 3 – Santiago

Our representative has a wealth of knowledge on the island and will be able to provide you with plenty of personal recommendations on the best excursions and hiking. Please do utilise their knowledge as it will help you get the best out of your stay. Remember, if you’re keen walkers, pack suitable walking shoes and day bag.

Day 4 – Fly to Fogo

Fly to Fogo. Our representative will direct you to your onward flight to the island. When you arrive in Fogo and you’ll embark on your panoramic transfer tour, ending at your hotel in São Filipe, where you’ll stay for two nights. The rest of the day is yours to explore - São Filipe has Portuguese squares, cobbled streets, sobrados and pastel decorated houses. The views from the promenade are of the island of Brava and a severe drop down to the black sand below.

Day 5 – Fogo

On Fogo, visit the volcanic crater at Chã das Caldeiras. Since 1785 all its eruptions have been inside the crater, the most recent of which was in 2014/15. This crater is a highlight of Cape Verde and has very fertile land. Coffee is grown on the outside slopes whilst vines used to produce the famous Fogo wine are grown in the crater.

Day 6 – Fly back to Santiago

You’ll be met by our representative who will direct you to your flight to Santiago. On arrival, you’ll be met and directed to your transfer and taken to your hotel. Please ask our representative about local restaurants and how to get about in the evening.

Day 7 – Fly to São Vicente

On arrival in São Vicente, you’ll be met by our representative who’ll direct you to your onward flight. On arrival, our representative will show you to your hotel transfer. You have plenty of time to explore the island, and our representative will have a full excursion list to help you to make the most of your visit.

Day 8 – São Vicente

Time to explore Mindelo. the capital of São Vicente, considered to be the cultural hub of the islands and is proud of its rich traditions in art and music. The cobbled squares, wide streets and 19th-century European architecture is reminiscent of colonial times. There’s also the beach, as well as local markets to discover.

Day 9 - Ferry to Santo Antão

You'll be transferred to the Port for the crossing to Santo Antão, with its rugged peaks, green valleys and magnificent scenery. Our representative will give you an excursion list for the island and show you to your transport to embark on your panoramic transfer tour to your hotel.

Day 10 – Santo Antão

From our excursion list there’s a great walk that combines the volcanic crater Cova, to Vale do Paúl, Janela and Vila das Pombas, however, there can be up to five different walks available depending on how much or little walking you wish. For your safety and comfort, we do recommend that you wear appropriate walking footwear for any walking excursions.

Day 11 – Sail back to São Vicente

Transfer back to Porto Novo for your ferry back to São Vicente. Then time for an excursion to make sure you’ve seen enough of São Vicente, maybe a full or half-day tour? We recommend Monte Verde, São Vicente’s highest peak at 750m, which boasts some truly spectacular views. We also suggest the local markets.

Days 12-14 – Heading back to Sal

Our representative will direct you to your flight. On arrival you’ll be met by our representative who’ll direct you to your hotel transfer. Time to relax and enjoy the white sandy beaches, or try the water sports? Plus plenty of local restaurants and evening entertainment to enjoy in Santa Maria. Full or half-day tours are available including Espargos, Porto de Palmeira Shark Bay, Murdeira and the Pedra de Lume salt flats. You’ll have the opportunity to paddle or bathe in the salt lakes.

Day 15 – Departing Sal

Make the most of the sunshine before your transfer to Sal Airport for your flight home.
