A homely atmosphere at Kira’s

The friendly atmosphere is the first thing guests will notice as they set foot in Kira’s, while plenty of personal touches give a local and family character to the guesthouse. Each of the property’s 11 guest rooms are named after the islands in the archipelago, and are individually decorated in a range of assorted colours, in keeping with the vibrancy that São Vicente is known for.

The guesthouse boasts a superb central location, just steps from the main square of Mindelo. Despite this, you’ll feel nothing but peace and quiet throughout your stay, such is the homely, secluded vibe of the property.

About the Local Area

São Vicente is home to Mindelo, the island's capital. Mindelo is the cultural capital of the islands and is a wonderful stop to include in any Cape Verdean itinerary.

Mindeo is proud of its rich heritage and traditions with art, music, and vibrant nightlife. The lively buzz of music from local bars, clubs and cafés will draw you in, where you can enjoy refreshing drinks and delicious food.

By day, pay a visit to Laginha Beach, the pristine white sand bay and Kalimba beach bar are the ideal home for a beach lover during their holiday. Casa Café Mindelo is a favourite, be sure to taste the grogue, a local beverage that comes in a variety of flavours.

SãO Vicente hosts two of the most lavish events in the archipelago - Carnival!

  • Carnival - Held each February, 40 days before Easter. Outfits are inspired by Rio the estival in Brazil, with a Portuguese flavour mixed in. We do offer a four-night Carnival add-on package too.
  • There is a great beach festival held in August during the full moon, attracting visitors and musicians from across the archipelago.

This is the island's highest peak, once you've reached the top (this can be done by car or by foot), the panoramas are magnificent. Allow them to take your breath away as your embrace the 360 views. You will be able to look over the whole city of Mindelo and out across the Atlantic.

This is highly recommended, as it is just a one-hour ferry ride across to the neighbouring island, and the only way to visit is from São Vicente. Experience the beautiful green peaks and the multitude of hiking routes.

The island's beaches are rugged and beautiful, slightly different to those of Sal or Boa Vista, but boast enough charm of their own.

It is in a fantastic location and boasts a delicious menu. Try the Cape Vedean classics whilst soaking up the excellent atmosphere and music.
