Blog > Hotel Morabeza, our most popular hotel in Cape Verde
Beachfront location, friendly service, spacious rooms, fabulous restaurants, it’s small wonder why the Hotel Morabeza is our most popular hotel in Cape Verde.
Winner for the second year running of our Certificate of Excellence for Outstanding Customer Feedback award, Hotel Morabeza remains our flagship hotel within our Cape Verde collection and has long been the most favourite with our guests.
The island of Sal is a fabulous location for a beach holiday in Cape Verde, and Morabeza is in an enviable position, directly by the soft sands of the sweeping bay in the island’s main tourist resort, Santa Maria. The water here is the clearest imaginable and glistens in the sunshine in ever-changing shades of green and turquoise.
The town’s many restaurants, bars and shops are right on your doorstep too, while nearby, at Santa Maria’s pier, you can watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch and the locals gather round to buy the fresh fish. When the fishermen have gone, youngsters use the pier to jump and somersault into the crystal-clear water.
Le Beach Club, as its name suggests, is right on the sands by the hotel, while three further restaurants offer plenty of variety when it comes to dining within the hotel itself. Plus, there are three bars to choose from for an aperitif, or a cheeky night cap.
Beth Handel, Cape Verde Experience Administrator recommends upgrading to Bon Appetit board basis: “If you upgrade to the Bon Appetit option, one of the inclusive nights is the Saturday night BBQ, which is great fun with typical Cape Verdean music and dancing. Afterwards, I recommend you sample the night life of Santa Maria. At the weekends the main road turns into a pedestrianised area - the bars and clubs spill into the roads, and locals and tourists mingle!”
The Executive area and rooms is by far the most popular area for our guests for many reasons, and we are proud to be able to offer them exclusively through us to the UK market. Unsurprisingly, they sell out very fast, so booking early is highly recommended.
The Executive Area enjoys a separate wing within the hotel, surrounding a beautiful palm- fringed adults-only pool. All the Executive rooms are also adult-only, located on the ‘sea side’ of the hotel, enjoying spacious accommodation with either a terrace or balcony.
The first floor Executive Suites (pictured above) benefit from an additional living area as well as a second balcony with sunbeds so you can enjoy some wonderful views towards the ocean. There's also some lovely additional touches in the form of bath robes and slippers to ensure extra comfort for guests.
“Book an executive room, the rooms are beautifully presented, in a wonderful location with great access to the pool and beach area!” Becky Dorey, Cape Verde Experience Sales Consultant
The word Morabeza translates as ‘hospitality’, and perfectly suits this family-run hotel, which is also the longest established hotel on the island. We absolutely love the family ethos of this hotel, with many of the staff members having worked here for many years, following in their parents and siblings footsteps alike. The owners and staff are regularly praised by our guests, another of the many reasons why the hotel has so many repeat bookings.
We work with the independent review site Feefo, as well as providing online feedback questionnaires to our customers. Our website is full of honest, relevant customer feedback, and here’s what a previous guest at the Morabeza had to say…
“We had the most wonderful holiday, so much so that we have decided to go back for 12 days in November when we will do a bit of island hopping! Hotel was fabulous, staff brilliant, ambience superb, beach to die for, weather perfect - what more can I say?!” Mrs Simmonds

It would be a shame to travel to Cape Verde, especially if it’s your first visit, and not see beyond the resort of Santa Maria. We offer several excursions and activities from catamaran trips to quad biking, island tours and even the possibility of inter-island day trips from Sal. Find out more here.
However, if you're picturing yourself relaxing by the Morabeza’s Executive pool, a caipirinha cocktail in hand, we highly recommend you book early to make sure you can secure your preferred travel dates.
