In this, the third edition in our series of interviews with our representatives in Cape Verde, we talk to Tracey, our rep on Sal.

1. What do you like most about being a rep?

I’ve been a rep for the Cape Verde Experience for over five years, yet every day is different. I enjoy meeting people and I am passionate about Cape Verde. Visitors to the islands love to find out about new experiences they can enjoy.

2. What do you like most about this island of Sal?

The beaches, the sea and the climate (I’m originally from Sheffield which is so cold).

3. What is the one thing people visiting that island for the first time should not miss?

The Adventure Coast to Coast Tour is a great way to see the ’hidden’ parts of Sal not normally visited by tourists, including the nature reserves. You can experience the vast sand dunes, volcanic formations, wetlands and canyons, and still see many of the sights included in the full-day tour; such as Lion Mountain, Murdeira village, the Blue Eye, the Salt Mine, the capital of Sal, Espargos, the fishing port Palmeira and Santa Maria.

4. What is your favourite thing about all the Cape Verde islands, as an overall destination?

The people. They are proud of their culture and heritage, and their music and dancing express this.

5. Which is your favourite island in the Cape Verde archipelago and why?

Santo Antão, as the scenery is absolutely breathtaking.

6. What is your favourite thing to do in Cape Verde?

Chilling out on the beach on a Sunday with my partner, with friends joining us for either a cool beer or a picnic, or walking along Ponta Preta Beach and enjoying a meal out.

7. Do you have any tips for first time visitors to Cape Verde?

The islands are all so different, so it is well worth seeing one of the other islands as a contrast.
